Making sure people and businesses get the best from our APIs is a key driver for us at KPN.

Providing the most reliable and useful APIs via our API Store is really important to us - and one way to make sure we’re offering the very best is to get out and meet others in the industry.

For these reasons, we were thrilled to be Gold Sponsor of the first-ever APIdays Conferences to be held in the Netherlands.

Two days of innovation and connections

APIdays is a global set of events dedicated to furthering understanding of the role of APIs in business. This time around, the theme of the conference was the role of APIs in telecoms and their future in the Netherlands and beyond.

Two days of talks, presentations and use cases filled the historic Hotel Arena in Amsterdam over October 16 and 17 - attracting 400 API specialists, from product owners and IT managers to founders and marketers.

Subjects under discussion included API Economy, the future of CPaaS, AI, machine learning, use cases of programmable communications APIs and reflections on the customer journey - identity, security and bots.

We were delighted to be able to speak about our launch into the CPaaS world - combining both standard communication APIs and programmable communication APIs in our telco grade marketplace, specifically catering to the high demands of corporate customers.

Conference participants - including IBM, VoIP Innovations, Nexmo, Avaya, JpU and ING - were pleased to hear that we’d joined the fast-growing CPaaS world as we announced our exciting new partnerships with Nexmo and VoIP Innovations.

Sharing and learning with peers

Not only could we share our news, but we were also able to speak to other major players in the industry and discover a range of interesting APIs with the potential to onboard in our API Store.

Being part of APIdays, organised locally by White Rabbit and Ottspott, has truly inspired us to keep our focus on upcoming innovations and spot new market moves in the communication areas.

What’s next for KPN?
We will take part in APIdays Telco Amsterdam next year - let us know if you’d like to join us.

To help you decide, take a look at this year’s event. And keep an eye on our API Store as new APIs will pop-up soon!

Over the next few weeks, we’re looking forward to attending the Dutch Mobility hackathon on 16/17 November and Google Cloud Summit on 28/11!
